Run a consultation
Use a consultation to capture a visit, review the transcript, work with clinical codes, and create an editable note. Begin from the patient record whenever possible so the consultation is already associated with the right patient.
Start for a patient
- Open Patients and select the patient.
- In CONSULTATIONS, select NEW.
- Add or update the Reason for visit and visit date if needed.
- Select the recording control to create a recording.
You can also select + New → New Session in the main navigation. When no patient is selected, first confirm the patient details before saving the work.
Choose Session or Dictation
The recording control lets you choose the recording type.
- Use Session for a patient encounter.
- Use Dictation when you are speaking a note or instructions to be turned into a document.
Review the consultation
After the recording is processed:
- Read the Transcript and correct anything that is incomplete or inaccurate.
- In Clinical Codes, select GENERATE CODES if you want a draft set of codes. Review each code; you can add an ICD-10 code manually or remove one.
- In Context, select ADD DOCUMENT to add patient material to the consultation when needed.
- Under Notes, select a template. Then select GENERATE NOTE to create a draft note from the transcript and selected template.
- Edit the note and visit details until they are correct, then select SAVE.
The generated content does not replace your professional review. Verify the transcript, codes, and final note before saving.
