Sessions vs Dictations
Basilias allows you to record both sessions and dictations. While there are no hard and fast rules, generally Sessions are for capturing a recording of a consultation and patient interaction, while Dictations are for taking specific notes.
Making a selection
In the Consultation page, the Recording button has a toggle to switch between Session and Dictation.
Sessions
Typically, if you are recording a interaction with a patient, you should select Session. Sessions are optimized for capturing recordings of more than one speaker, producing a transcript with speaker identification, and generating clinical codes accordingly.

Dictations
By contrast, if you are taking notes, you should select Dictation. Dictations are optimized for taking notes, including directions for formatting. So, for example, you can say things like:
"Create a table with the following columns: Medication, Dose, and Frequency. Include ibuprofen at 200mg, twice daily. Then indicate that the patient is allergic to penicillin. Include a line for my signature."
